Dr Shweta Sharma

Dr Sharma completed her medical degree at Deakin University (Geelong, Victoria) in 2013 after achieving her Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree at the University of Toronto (2009). She concluded her physician training and subsequent advanced training in Gastroenterology in Victoria as well as Queensland. She undertook an additional year of post-fellowship training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) in luminal interventional endoscopy.

She is an internationally published researcher who is committed to advancing her discipline while continuously self-reflecting and improving individual clinical practice. She is currently undertaking a part-time Masters degree (MPhil) at the University of Queensland (UQ) Faculty of Medicine where she is analysing data from the RBWH and Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) for the yield of surveillance colonoscopies in Australia.

Dr Sharma is accredited for gastroscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy. She is passionate about health equity, improving quality and access to empathetic evidence-based care. She is interested in all aspects of Gastroenterology but specifically focuses on colorectal cancer prevention, cancer screening and early detection of gastrointestinal cancers.
